The Mediterranean Museum Library is a reference and research library for archaeology, Egyptology, art history, cultural history and Islam with emphasis on the collections of the museum from the Mediterranean and West Asia regions. Around half of the museum's collection of books is on loan from the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. The total book collection consists of around 15,000 books.
As of 1 January 2026, the libraries of the National Museums of World Culture will no longer be open for general public visits.
Instead, the libraries will offer public access on specific dates.
These dates will be announced later this year.

The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities archives document the Swedish excavations and expeditions in the Mediterranean, that were the source of the museum's current collections. For example there are archives from the Swedish Cyprus Expedition (1927-1931), but also information regarding the Egyptian and Greco-Roman collections in the museum.
The archives are open for visits by appointment, Monday - Friday 9 am - 4 pm. Please contact Monica Sargren.
